Barbitistes constrictus - Eastern Saw Bush-cricket

Description: Ground colour bluish green. Head is at least as wide as the pronotum long. Yellow stripe behind the eyes, antennae are dark. ( 18-23 mm,♀ 23-25 mm). Wings are very short, especially by the females. pronotum dark, cerci cross each other, long and not evenly getting thinner towards the tip. Subgenital plate is rounded at the end. The ovipositor (9-11 mm) is straight on the bottom side, only tip pointing upwards.
Similar species: Barbitistes serricauda and Isophya species
Adults: from July to October
Song:
Faint and short eschemes, only hearable with a bat detector (25 kHz). Sings mostly in the evening.

Habitat:  Forests, bushes, forest edges. Lives up in the trees ,bushes..
Distribution:
Isolated populations in the North Hungarian Mts. Scarce.
