Odontopodisma schmidtii - Schmidt's Mountain Grasshopper
(Fieber, 1853)

Description: Medium-sized (♂ 13-18 mm, ♀ 17-25 mm), green grasshopper. Wings are small red scales, hind tibiae are bluish or greenish. There is a small black spot on each side of the subgenital plate of the female (this distinguishes her from related Odontopodismaspecies).
Similar species: The other Odontopodisma species. Identification is difficult.
Adults: from July to September
Song:
Males have no calling song.

abitat:  Humid grasslands and bushes. Lives on tall herbs.
Distribution:
Very rare and local species, but can be abundant in its habitat. Only west of the Danube (e.g. Őrség, Dráva-mente, Mecsek, Szt. György-hegy, Szekszárd, Kisszékely).
