Acheta domesticus - House Cricket
(L., 1758)

Description: Ground colour light brown with dark stripes on head (♂ 13-20 mm, ♀ 14-20 mm). Fore and hind wings are both long reaching the tip of the abdomen. Ovipositor is long (9-14 mm) and only slightly bent.
Similar species: Eumodicogryllus bordigalensis
Adults: Throughout the whole year.
Song:
Typical cricket sound, very loud. The eschemes are repeated more or less regularly at the rate of about 1-3/s. Males singing mostly in the evening and night. .The song can be heard from a distance of up to 30 to 40 meters.

Habitat:  Only in warm places, mostly in buildings.
Distribution:
Widespread in Hungary.
