Acrida ungarica - Common Cylindric Grasshopper (Herbst, 1786)
Description: Ground colour is green or brown. An easily recognisable, large species (♂ 30-40 mm, ♀ 50-55 mm) with elongated head. The wings are long, surpassing the abdomen. The antennae are flattened. Similar species:none Adults: from July to September Song: Males have no calling song. Habitat: They require high temperatures and live in warm habitats, mostly on sandy soils. They are good fliers. Distribution: Widespread on the Great Hungarian Plain and in different regions to the west of the Danube. Note: Protected species in Hungary.
