Acrotylus longipes - Yellow-winged Digging Grasshopper
(Charpentier, 1845)

Description: Medium-sized, very slender grasshopper (♂ 14 - 17 mm, ♀ 18 - 26 mm). The body is usually light, sandy-coloured. The wings extend well beyond the hind knee, with 2 to 3 dark crossbars on the forewing. Hind wing base yellowish (only visible when wings are open!). The flaps of the pronotum are horizontally striped. The mid-leg femurs are very long, giving the resting animal a somewhat spider-like posture.
Similar species: Acrotylus insubricus, that species has red colour on hind wings.
Adults: from June to October.
Song:
Males have no calling song.

abitat:  On sandy soils, likes patches of bare ground. It's a good flier.
Distribution:
Very rare in Hungary. Known from Kiskunság, Nyírség (Hajdúsámson), Fenyőfő(?).
Note:
Protected species in Hungary.
