Description: Medium-sized grasshopper (♂ 18-24 mm, ♀ 23-32 mm), more robust than the related species A. thalassinus. Ground colour is brown, but females can be green as well. The forewing is slightly longer than the abdomen with dark patches. The tip of the hindwing is slightly dark. Hind femur 3-3.5 times as long as wide. Hind tibiae are partly pink with black rings. Similar species:Aiolopus thalassinus Adults: from May until October (most abundant in August and September) Song: Males have no calling song. Habitat: Dry and rocky places, forest edges, vineyards. The imago overwinters. Distribution: Only in two regions in SW-Hungary (Mecsek and Villányi Hills). Note: Protected species in Hungary.
