Bicolorana bicolor - Bicolour Meadow Bush-cricket
(Philippi, 1830)

Description: Ground colour light green, only the upperside is light brown (♂ 14-17 mm, ♀ 15-18 mm). The pronotum sideflaps are entirely green without a lighter margin. Ovipositor is 5-7 mm long, dark and strongly curved.
Similar species: Platycleis, Roeseliana and Metrioptera species.
Adults: from June to October.
Song:
Loud song, can be heard up to 20 m away. It consists of a long sequence (sometimes minutes) of buzzing sounds, but sometimes the sequences are shorter (1-5 sec.).

Habitat: 
Tall grass meadows and hillsides. It hides in the vegetation making it difficult to find. Flightless.
Distribution:
Widespread and common.
Note:
older synonym is Metrioptera bicolor.
