Locusta migratoria - Migratory Locust
(L., 1758)

Description: Very large, robust grasshopper (♂ 30-41 mm, ♀ 35-50 mm). Ground colour green to brown, wings are long, extending beyond the hind knee. The median keel of the pronotum is elevated.
Similar species: Oedaleus decorus
Adults: from July to October
Song:
No calling song.

abitat:  Sandy grasslands, but often nearby streams or lakes.
Distribution:
It became very scarce. Known only from a few regions (e.g. Nyírség, Ecsedi-láp, Hajdúhadházliget, Kiskunság(?)).
Note:
Protected species in Hungary.
