Oedaleus decorus - Handsome Cross Grasshopper
(Germar, 1826)

Description: Medium-sized, robust species (♂ 18-24 mm, ♀ 25-38 mm). Ground colour green or brown with many dark patches. The wings are longer than the hind knee. The hind wing has a broad dark band in the middle and a yellowish base. On top of the pronotum there are 4 light stripes in a cross shape. The underside of the hind femur is yellow or white.
Similar species: Dociostaurus maroccanus
Adults: from July to September
Song:
Males have no calling song.

abitat:  Dry and rocky places, hillsides, sandy grasslands.
Distribution:
Widespread but not common. Mostly in lowlands.
