Pezotettix giornae - Common Maquis Grasshopper (Rossi, 1794)
Description: Small, inconspicuous species (♂ 11-14 mm, ♀ 13-17 mm). Ground colour brownish grey, wings shorter (2-4 mm) than the pronotum. The underside of the hind femur is more or less yellow. Similar species:Stenobothrus crassipes, and confusion with larvae of other species. Adults: It can be found all year round,but most abundant between June and October. Song: Males have no calling song. Habitat: Warm and dry habitats with lush vegetation. Distribution: Widespread but local (e.g. Villányi-hg., Mecsek, Gemenc, Zselic, Keszthelyi-hg., Balaton-felvidék, Budai-hg., Pilis, Mezőföld, Békés, Szolnok, Debrecen, Tisza-tó).
